What's going on here?

"Color me intrigued." I sarcastically said this in conversation with a guy that would, little did I know pre-date #1, played a big character in my story. And to his credit, I did come to find he was unlike anyone I'd met before.

At the ripe age of 26, here's where I'm at -

1. Although I'm killer at small talk (can and have talked to a brick wall), life's too short for that. I want to talk about interesting things and talk to interesting people.

2.  I'm a pen & paper journaler and I have a notes list in my phone for anything that can be made into a list (from underrated movies to little things that bring me joy to my continually edited closet wishlist). I quite enjoy writing, and I'm probably not great at it, but I enjoy it.

3. I'm passionate about media & news and love being in the know. (I finally work for a media company and still geek about it. I love it and I feel like I'm carving a career path that's so true to me).

4. I'm all in for a good debrief. Post-night out with the gals takes the cake for my favorite debrief session (s/o to the Stumble living room on Sunday morning senior year), but a close second goes to the post-movie / mini-series / podcast debrief.

So that's how we got here - talking about colorful people, stories, ideas - things that moved me, occupied my shower thoughts, and made me laugh, cry, and lay awake (well not for long, anyone who knows me knows I am usually asleep as soon as head hits pillow).

Intrigued?

Live in the past, no time like the future

Oh, wait. It's supposed to be 'present', like the things I got for my birthday last week. Aka mainly booze. To which, adult birthdays...

About me, Blair

Not Claire, Blair like the Witch Project

Some of my most fond memories growing up involved movies and music, and singing, dancing, and hearing stories.

I didn’t grow up with cable, but we went to my grandparents in Hermann, MO practically every weekend to meet up with my cousins - my first and my forever friends - and get a cable and junk food fix. We squeezed like sardines in that house, karaoking to Elvis, Grease and all things Disney, huddling around the tv for the High School Musical 2 premiere and falling asleep to Friends on Nick at Nite.

My mom woke us up to The Today Show every morning, and the next episode of American Idol, Survivor, Dancing With the Stars, or So You Think You Can Dance was often the highlight of my week.

In grade school, we'd sometimes do Friday nights with a picnic on the living room floor with the Chinese takeout + a Blockbuster rental.  In high school I’d often prefer staying at home on Friday nights (I still have a hard no going-out on Friday nights rule) and watching movies or playing board games. My favorite thing to do on college breaks was catch all the good movies in theaters with my mom (one time we saw 6 in a few weeks). And should someone ask, I’d gladly do a dinner + movie date  (let's bring those back).

So about me - I’m an Aquarius (air sign - intellectual, curious, and deeply social - not my words), I’m a YouTube gal and never had TikTok (‘97 baby but Team Millennial), and I don’t know why I bother dating because I’ve already found the love of my life - my 100lb Golden - Bear Leo Korte.

Will die on the "they don't make tv / movies / music like they used to" hill, I'd have Dakota Johnson play me in my biopic, and my reigning top Spotify podcast is Armchair Expert (love you Dax).

I’ve tried to do this thing several times, not for lack of wanting to, or lack of trying. Tale as old as time - I got in my own way and didn’t think anyone would care or would read. But this is really a love letter to myself, and I’m doing this for me. Because if you don’t believe in yourself who the hell is going to.

Cheers, B

Writer's Note

Photos are an ode to a colorful summer I spent in Italy.

Grateful to get to be that annoying chick that talks about her college abroad trip.

And yes, you're damn right it changed my life.
